Snapchat Unveils Activation Plans for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Series
Snapchat recently revealed its full activation plan for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, covering new Bitmoji store items, AR filters, creator collaborations, real-time topic chats, and offline events in two U.S. locations, aiming to boost user engagement on the platform through the tournament.

Snapchat recently announced a series of activations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including new fan gear for Bitmoji characters, themed Lenses, and exclusive coverage content from on-site creators.
First, Snapchat has added several World Cup fan gear items to the Bitmoji store, allowing users to outfit their Bitmoji avatars in the colors of their favorite national teams.

At the same time, Snapchat has partnered with U.S. Soccer, Adidas, and Nike to expand the Bitmoji clothing line for the tournament.
On the augmented reality (AR) front, Snapchat has added official team and country-themed Lenses for more than 20 national teams. Additionally, the app now includes World Cup-related promotional content and effects to enhance the tournament atmosphere.

Snapchat will also send creators Alix Earle and NBA player Jared McCain to the World Cup to share exclusive insights. Meanwhile, the platform has partnered with several players, including Portugal's João Félix, the United States' Sergiño Dest, and Norway's Erling Haaland, who will provide direct observations and commentary on the tournament.
The platform has also introduced the "World Cup Topic Chat" feature, providing users with a channel to discuss matches in real time.
Finally, Snapchat plans to host in-person World Cup events in Los Angeles and New York City. According to Snapchat, these events will offer "spaces for the community to celebrate the tournament together."
"Throughout the tournament, Snapchat will take over U.S. Soccer House in Los Angeles, using immersive experiences to help fans, creators, and partners connect around the tournament's most pivotal moments," Snapchat said. "In late summer, Snapchat will partner with the NYNJ 2026 World Cup organizing committee to activate at the official NYNJ World Cup 26 and Telemundo Fan Village at Rockefeller Center from July 6-19, and at the FIFA Fan Festival at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from June 11-27, bringing Snapchat Cam, AR experiences, and creator-led moments directly to fans on site."
The World Cup is expected to present significant engagement opportunities for Snapchat, as the majority of the app's users consume sports content and actively seek sports-related updates within the app.
Snapchat says 63% of Gen Z social media users follow professional athletes on social platforms, adding that the app helps players connect with fans in "a more authentic, personal way."
Specifically regarding the World Cup, Snapchat says 62% of World Cup fans will watch or follow content from players, teams, or creators on the app during the tournament.
Based on these figures, it is logical for Snapchat to focus on the 2026 World Cup as a key priority, aiming to make the platform a vital link for connecting users.
