Voice Comments: Express Yourself Without Typing
First, TikTok has added a voice comment feature, allowing viewers to directly record audio as a response to a video. According to the official demo, users can tap the microphone icon in the comment window to record a voice message; the comment will appear as an audio file with an automatically generated text version below it.
TikTok states that each voice comment can be up to 60 seconds long. In an official statement, the company said: "Whether you're laughing at a meme, singing along with a creator, or reacting to a sudden plot twist, voice comments let you easily express your feelings—no typing required."
Voice comments will be rolled out gradually to users aged 18 and above worldwide over the next month.
Comment Polls: Creators Gauge Community Trends in Real Time
Second, TikTok has introduced a polling feature in the comment section to further stimulate user responses. Only video creators can initiate polls, and each poll can include up to five options.
TikTok said: "As votes accumulate, creators can view results directly in the comment section, allowing them to understand discussion trends in real time." Comment polls are now available to all creators.
Photo Carousel Comments and Live Photos Replies
Additionally, TikTok has added photo carousel comments and Live Photos reply features, providing users with more ways to use static images.
Users can add up to nine photos in a single comment, and tapping one of them expands the images into a swipeable carousel view. Live Photos allow users to share dynamic images, adding a new option for replies within the video feed.
TikTok says photo comments are now available globally, while photo carousel comments will be rolled out gradually over the next month.
