TikTok Expands AI Video Ad Capabilities with Dreamina Seedance 2.5 Integration

TikTok announced the integration of Dreamina Seedance 2.5, its parent company ByteDance's latest AI video generation model, into its Symphony ad toolkit. The update allows advertisers to create longer, higher-quality video clips (up to 30 seconds) and upload up to 50 multimodal references, up from 9 previously. The model promises sharper imagery and better consistency. However, the move comes as platforms like Snapchat, Pinterest, Reddit, and X implement measures to limit AI-generated content due to user backlash. TikTok is rolling out the model to select paid advertisers in select markets.

TikTok Expands AI Video Ad Capabilities with Dreamina Seedance 2.5 Integration

TikTok is expanding its advertisers' ability to leverage artificial intelligence for video ad creation. The platform has integrated the latest AI model from its parent company, ByteDance, into its Symphony toolkit, aiming to facilitate the production of more visually appealing and engaging video clips.

TikTok Dreamina 2.5

On Monday, TikTok announced the integration of the Dreamina Seedance 2.5 video generation model. The company stated that this model will generate higher-quality video clips, specifically tailored for the TikTok audience.

According to TikTok, the updated video model enables deeper storytelling capabilities. Advertisers can now generate video clips of up to 30 seconds in length, a significant increase from the previous 15-second limit.

Additionally, advertisers can upload up to 50 multi-modal references—including images, videos, and audio—to guide the AI video generation process. This represents a substantial expansion from the previous limit of 9 references. TikTok noted that the new model can produce "sharper, more realistic imagery" while maintaining stronger preservation of lighting, motion, and character consistency throughout a video.

This enhanced capability, TikTok explained, allows for a more advanced understanding of product context, proportions, and scene composition. As a result, advertisers can execute more ambitious creative ideas "with a stronger finish."

The integration of Dreamina 2.0 was first announced in April, and this latest update builds on the broader momentum of AI-generated video content across the industry.

However, this development occurs against a backdrop of significant user backlash against AI-generated video on many social media platforms, including TikTok itself. Users have been vocal in expressing their desire to avoid "AI slop" dominating their feeds.

Last week, Snapchat announced that it will no longer promote wholly AI-generated content within its Spotlight short video feed. Similarly, Pinterest, Reddit, and X have all initiated measures to limit the spread of AI-generated content and reduce the overwhelming volume of AI-generated posts.

TikTok, for its part, has implemented transparency and user education initiatives to ensure users remain aware of AI-generated content. The app also provides users with the option to indicate that they want to see less AI-generated content in their For You feeds.

Within this context, offering advertisers more ways to utilize AI could be counterintuitive to prevailing user trends. It may even potentially trigger backlash against advertisers who adopt this approach.

Nevertheless, TikTok clearly sees potential in the latest Seedance model. The company stated that the Dreamina Seedance model is now being rolled out to select paid advertisers in select markets.
