Meta is opening up a range of experimental video editing features to creators through the Beta tab in its Edits app. The update includes speed ramping, color correction adjustments, and a new way to manage in-progress projects.

In a press release obtained by SMT, Meta explained how users can access the Beta tab, which was launched in June.

Meta explained: "The Beta tab is a dedicated area in Edits for early testing of upcoming features. These features are off by default; creators can choose to turn them on, try them out, and send feedback by shaking their phone. This is how we build Edits together with creators, giving them the power to shape the app into what works best for them."

New Beta features on iOS include speed ramping, which Meta says will support "precise, dynamic speed adjustments along a customizable curve." Meta added that this is one of the most requested video editing features, especially popular among short-form creators.

Meta is also experimenting with a one-tap color correction feature that automatically optimizes exposure, contrast, and tone in video projects.

Additionally, the company is testing a folders feature on iOS and Android, giving creators another way to manage multiple projects by saving drafts to different areas within the app.

Meta said: "Long-press to enter organize mode, then drag and drop drafts into folders, making Edits feel like your own creative studio."

Finally, Meta is bringing adjustable layers to Android users. This will help creators maintain consistency across their projects. Meta added adjustable layer editing tools on iOS in November.

The Beta tab gives creators access to all these features in a test mode, giving them an early look at what's coming. At the same time, the testing feature also provides Meta with a way to gather more feedback from users as it refines and improves the Edits experience.
