Google Streamlines A/B Testing for Search Ads with New Experiment Flow
Google is rolling out an updated A/B testing experience for Search ads, enabling advertisers to launch experiments with just a few clicks. The new flow in Google Ads Manager simplifies test setup, offers more comparison options, and integrates with Performance Planner and AI Max for deeper insights. The rollout is scheduled throughout September.

Google has introduced a simplified A/B testing process for Search campaigns, featuring a new experiments creation flow in Google Ads Manager that enables advertisers to launch ad performance experiments in just a few clicks.

As illustrated in the image above, Google’s revamped experiments dashboard presents advertisers with a range of options for their ad tests, streamlining the selection process for implementing chosen parameters.
Advertisers can select which campaigns they wish to apply their test to from a list of existing projects.

The updated system removes the need for advertisers to structure complex testing conditions, possess in-depth knowledge of adequate test design, or fully understand Google’s ad system. Instead, they gain more options for comparison tests, helping them determine where to allocate their budgets effectively.
According to Google: “Performance Planner now allows you to see how changes, like bidding or budget targets, may impact your existing campaign performance. In one click, you can apply those suggested changes directly to your campaigns.”
Google stated that the updated testing process will also enable advertisers to run comparison tests incorporating AI Max elements, offering deeper insight into how its artificial intelligence-powered ads could drive response.
This provides another avenue for brands to experiment with potential ad refinements and modifications, implementing them with confidence regarding likely performance impacts.
Google indicated that the updated ads testing process is being rolled out to advertisers throughout September.
